How to get to Nosara, Costa Rica

How do you get to Nosara? Most visitors fly into Liberia’s international airport (LIR) in Guanacaste, then either drive about two and a half hours or take a thirty-minute domestic flight to the Nosara airstrip. It is remote enough to feel set apart, and easier to reach than that suggests.
Fly into Liberia (LIR)
Daniel Oduber International Airport in Liberia is the closest international gateway, with direct flights from many North American cities. It is the practical arrival point for Nosara and the wider Guanacaste coast. San José (SJO) is the alternative, but it is a longer haul: roughly five hours by road, or a domestic connection.
From Liberia, two good options
Drive (about 2.5–3 hours). A rental car gives you freedom once you arrive, and the route down through Guanacaste is beautiful. An SUV is worth it: the roads are hilly and curvy, and the final stretch into Nosara includes some unpaved sections. Private and shared shuttles run the same route if you would rather not drive.
Fly (about 30 minutes). Domestic carriers Sansa and Costa Rica Green Airways hop from Liberia to the Nosara airstrip in around half an hour, typically $150 to $200 per person one way. It is the fastest way in, and the small plane over the coast is part of the experience.
The Nosara airstrip
Nosara has its own airstrip (code NOB), about fifteen minutes from Playa Guiones. For owners and guests, that means a private or scheduled flight can land you minutes from the beach.
How close is the estate?
The Sanctuary Estate sits about ten minutes from Playa Guiones, in the same quiet pocket of Nosara. So from a domestic flight it is roughly fifteen to twenty minutes to the gate; from Liberia, a half-day of easy travel from almost anywhere in North America.
