The two-bedroom residence at The Sanctuary Estate has a west-facing room built around two things: a hand-carved bed made in India, and a wall of glass that opens onto the gardens and the hills behind them.

What makes this bedroom distinctive?

The bed. It was carved by hand in India and shipped to the estate, and its headboard rises well above the mattress as a single worked piece. It is furniture with weight and provenance, not a showroom set.

The door earns its place too. It is a custom antique-style door in a soft blue, also handmade in India, with carved detail and hinges made specifically for the room. Small things like the hinges are where the care shows.

What are the views like?

Through the glass doors you look out over the estate’s gardens, the rolling hills, and the mountains in the distance.

The room sits on the west side of the house, so it takes the evening light. Sunsets fill it with warm color; mornings arrive softer, with light moving up across the landscape. Because so much of the wall is glass, the outside is part of the room rather than something you glance at through a small window.
